Windshield Upper Rubber Molding/Trim Piece
Windshield Upper Rubber Molding/Trim Piece
Hey NAMers,
I just bought a new to me, 2006 JCW R53. I have been slowly working on it trying to fix the numerous problems it has and get it road worthy. Asides from a pesky P0301, I am almost there. The P0301 might be something bad, having gone through the usual steps to try to fix it (the cheap stuff like plugs, coil, wires, etc.) Strange, when I bought it, it was missing the upper windshield trim piece and the two corner pieces. I'm assuming an aftermarket windshield was installed and the person never put the trim piece in. My question is, can you install the trim piece without removing the windshield? I purchased the molding/trim from the dealership, but am having a hell of a time getting it in place. It looks like the windshield needs to come out, put the trim on, and then reinstall windshield which is not going to happen. Maybe I can cut the trim piece and hold it in place with some caulking or something. Any advice?
Thanks.,

This is what I'm trying to install but cannot determine if it can be done with the windshield already intact. I've tried lubricating with windex and pressing hard but doesn't seem to want to go. I may have to purchase some plastic trim tools and have a go with those.

These are the corner pieces I am referring to. I managed to grab a couple off somebody parting out their R50.
