R52 Convertible Top Linkage Broken

Greetings all. I recently bought my first Mini - an '05 R52. We are in love with this car!

When I bought it I knew one of the latches was broken and I just replace it. After replacing it I found that the latch still was not operating properly. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the actuator rod (?) had broken free from the slide.

area on roof assembly

chunk missing from slider and actuator rod has separated

view with slide pushed into proper position on actuator rod

Has anyone had this happen and repaired it? (Yes, I searched the forum for hours...)
I don't believe JB Weld will be able to withstand the forces and am looking for other options.

Thanks In Advance,
Disco Dave

They aren't available new. I bought a used roof but getting into that area requires some drilling of rivets. I haven't taken the time to work on that yet.

Yep thats going to need bonded or something. I would look for a used top otherwise you have to buy a new cassette.
