Help! My 04 MC is making a high pitched squeal at idle. It comes and goes. Sounds like a fan motor??? I noticed it happens when the cooling fan comes on.

I also hear what sounds like water/liquid gurgling. Could this be boiling coolant?

A high pitched whine could indeed be your cooling fan. They seem to have a tendency to score their bearings. Should be easy to check in an MC - open the hood and you should be able to see when the fan starts up. If that is when it whines, a replacement fan should do the job. Even with the fan working, gurgling noises are not unusual - the water pump stops when the engine stops, so if the head and block are hot when you turn the engine off, it can actually boil water in the block. A lot of people recommend letting the engine cool at idle for a few minutes before turning the engine off.

I had a loud whine in my '05 MCS. After 3 trips back to the service dept it eventually ended up being the alternator. However, the whine only occurred under power - you really couldn't hear it at idle, but it increased with RPM increase. From your description it doesn't sound like the same thing.
