Fuel rail pressure drops then stalls
Fuel rail pressure drops then stalls
1st time Mini owner (2010 Clubman JCW) and can't wait to get to drive it!! I've done tons of research but can't figure this out. When I first got the car it would run for a little while (mins) then die. I started with the fuel filter which looked like it was dragged through mud. 100% sure that was it but no... Installed a new OEM HPFP and bought a scanner tool, Foxwell NT530. Starts up, fuel rail pressure at idle is from 800-1000, after 5-10 mins drops to 20-40 engine stumbles and dies. Then the pressure starts to build back up to 200 (with engine off). Checked the low pressure in-tank pump and it's not an OEM but made by VDO, the pump wires have 1 ohm which sounds about right and I'm getting voltage to it when the engine it running. It don't seem to get voltage when I open the door or insert the key. But continues to get voltage till it stalls.
Is the fuel pressure regulator part of the high pressure pump?
What tells the the regulator to increase or decrease pressure? O2 sensors? vacuum?
Possibly PCV valve not functioning?

Well, problem solved.... lack of fuel was the problem... it had 3 bars. I put in 10 gallons and ran good. Maybe the pick-up got outta whack when i installed a new filter. I am getting a code for the turbo, i think it was 2885?
