TPMS Inactive Light On
TPMS Inactive Light On
TL;DR: Replaced leak detection pump on 2012 Cooper, now my “TPMS Inactive” comes on intermittently
When I bought my 12 Cooper, it was having the issue with the evap system where it says “Close Gas Cap” on the screen periodically. I started with the gas cap, bought a new one, still had the issue. So last week I ordered a new leak detection pump from ECS since that was the next recommended method of repair. I got out there this afternoon, backed the car up my ramps, and installed the new pump. I cleared the stored codes with my Foxwell reader. As far as that issue goes, so far, so good. I’ve only driven a few miles with it but so far it seems like the evap issue is fixed. But now I have a new issue...
After performing this repair and clearing the codes, I started up the car to pull it off the ramps. Within a few seconds of starting the car TPMS Inactive message popped up on the screen on the dash and the TPMS light in the speedo started flashing. It seems to go off after about 20 or 30 seconds, but as I mentioned before I’ve only driven it a few miles more or less just around the neighborhood so I’m not sure yet if it’s going to come back on after it goes off. It also didn’t come on the first mile I drove around the block, but then I ran up the street to the gas station for something (approx. a couple miles) and it came on when I did that.
What could be causing this issue? Is there any wiring harnesses for that around the charcoal canister or that leak detection kit that I need to check? I gave everything I saw the once over to make sure that nothing was lose but its definitely possible that I missed something.

Little bit of an update: Had time this morning to actually sit down and read through some other forums and see what else is out there about it. Appears to be an antenna that sends a signal to the main system that's in that wheel well around that charcoal canister and leak detection pump I was messing with yesterday. When I get home from work I'll get it back under it and see what's going on over there. Provide an update afterwards
