Drove home with some extra speed getting into the highest for fun and no one was in front of me. Grinded going into third and fourth, which was new to me.
The next day I notice going into reverse causes a grinding them slam into gear. The clutch is choppy and seemingly skipping while slowly pulling off the pedal. It's hard to get into gear and the car would idle rough when put into first but the pedal down like at a red light.
Changed the fluid to this abomination
Which made shifting reliable, but now I hear a whine at any RPM engaged clutch or no and any gear. It sounds like a semi. The choppy uneven clutch power is also still present.
I guessed I over filled my transmission. So I jacked up the car like this
And taking off the fill plug let fluid trickle out - a smooth constant amount. I plugged it up after letting some out. I tighten the bolt then turned on the car and the whining is louder.
your car needs to be level in order to have the right amount of fluid in transmission. Having it tilted to the one side will cause it not to have enough fluid. There is a great vid on YouTube about this.
I hear you, and when I filled the fluid up a couple days ago I put a level on the engine and leveled it out. I did what I did in the picture to fill it up extra, but now that I've stepped away I remember the fill hole is back a little so that only lifting the front would pour fluid out. I'm gonna put syncromesh in tomorrow and measure that I put 1.8Q in.
Clutch went out today. I'm typing this on the side of the highway. I didn't expect it to be the clutch but maybe a bearing, because I had power until half an hour ago, and the symptoms on Google didn't exactly match my issue. Maybe it's a glazed pad or something along those lines. Maybe the previous owner didn't rescore the flywheel.
