How to fix play through the steering wheel?

Long story short I just had a few things that were replaced on the car, steering fluid, one tie rode, one wheel bearing, and some bushing on the front sway bar, with an alignment.
After I got the car back I found that there is now this slight play in the steering wheel. I'd say the steering wheel can move roughly 1 or 2° before the wheel are in action. In itself its not dramatic except that when driving straight the pull on the tires will sometime shift one way to the other and I get this very brief pull through the steering wheel (as it switch loading side).
It's not dangerous at all but quite a bit annoying. It feels like a gosht is taking control of the car for an instant

The car has been to the shop twice recently so I'd like to figure this one out on my own I think... or at a minimum identify what's going on.
Is there anyone with some tips as to where the steering play could come from? I'd really appreciate it...

I can't imagine how but can a steering fluid change impact steering precision?

As a first step I may try to lift the car slightly from one side than the other and see if one of car wheel has play.

You said - "Long story short I just had a few things that were replaced on the car, steering fluid, one tie rode, one wheel bearing, and some bushing on the front sway bar, with an alignment." It isn't the steering fluid, it is one of the other items that they didn't do correctly. Don't ask me which one as I'm no expert.

Yes the newer units are sealed on the Power steering. Something sounds like a loose bushing or tie road not tight. I would put it up on the rack and check the steering shaft and move the wheel and look for the play, Might be the shaft or something else. It should not have play. When you hit the sport button the steering should feel tighter.

I was able to locate the issue. It was the bolt at the base of the steering column that was not tightened properly. They actually put a brand new bolt. I'm not sure why they needed to touch the steering column. Maybe as they were hunting for the problem... who knows. Anyway, the steering wheel is now tight again...
