I have a small coolant leak from this sensor as per the picture, is this normal to be disconnected? I have not touched it at all... Just noticed a bit of a leak.
Can I just buy a seal for it?
That is the old style sensor from the early N18. Your Thermostat has likely been replaced with the new one that has both sensors in it. So this sensor is no longer used. Normally you replace the hose with the new style that doesn't have that elbow in it.
We have them #1 in this diagram https://www.waymotorworks.com/oem-co...7-r58-r59.html

Is that it; "thermostat to upper rad connector" ? Is that common for both manual and auto transmissions? Sometimes they differ... Mine's a manual.
Thanks

yes it is
It was just the sensor and elbow that came from the factory. MINI tried to make the thermostat without the sensor in it so this was how they had to do it, but then it didn't work out so they went back to both sensors being in the thermostat. It's just a production change.

I think you sent me the wrong part, I got this, see attached pic.
This looks exactly like what I have on the car right now, it will not replace that disconnected thermostat housing.. please advise. I was planning to install it today as it is leaking more and more...
NOT happy...
Thanks
I don't know what you ordered. But looking at that pic there that would be the correct hose to replace the one on the thermostat that originally had the temp sensor in it. It does look a lot like the hose under it but they are bent at different angles. So you should be good to go. If you want to send us a pic of your actual hose you can reply to your order invoice email and we'll be happy to look at it.
