2007 Mini Cooper R56 Base Won't Start Orange Key With Slash
Hello,
I bought this as my 1st MINI a few months ago. It is the base model with a 6 speed and about 176,000 miles. I left work Monday and the car would not start. When I inserted the fob an orange key with a slash through it lit up on the dash. I replaced the car battery as well as the rechargeable battery in the fob. I still get the orange key with the slash through it. Am I missing something? Is there anything I can do before having to bring it to a dealer?

I did a search on this forum, and Google, but couldn't find anything that helped hence the new post.
Thank you
Since you can lock/unlock the car, the fab itself works and the CAS (car access system) is recognizing the key. I would try replacing the fob docking before pointing at the key.
Sure...that's the cheapest approach to start with.
If it turned out to be the key, you can actually order one online and you have to show your DL and car registration. https://www.minipartsdirect.com or https://minipartsmass.com give them a call for pricing.
