2011 Mini Cooper s N18 engine is toast

Well my oil pump filter got clogged so my engine ran like 3 miles with out oil and fried my engine what would be a good option it’s a 2011 Mini Cooper s with the n18 I’m looking to just swap another engine into it and I was wondering if a 2012 n18 would work as a replacement.

oh man, sorry to hear that...personally, I always try to cheaper way which is rebuilding the engine if it still can be saved.

to your question, as long as it has the continental high pressure fuel pump, you should be fine. if you get the one fitted with Bosch HPFP, then you need the ECU for that engine and then you need to pair it with your car.

2011 and 2012 to March 2012 manufacture date are identical Continental HPFP. April 2012 was the Bosch. If you are on the boarder please find a way to verify by hand. I don't now how to know the difference.

Check the production date on your door then match to what we have here, or check the VIN on that engine if its 8/2010 - 3/2012 you should be fine.
