Fixed Vibrating brake rotor issue for $10

I put a set of aftermarket brake rotors on my 2007 justa 20K ago because of a shuddering pedal when I stepped on the brakes. The pads were hardly worn at all so I didn't replace them. The pedal began to start vibrating again 10K ago. I did some reading online that suggested that the problem is not warped rotors, but rather uneven transfer of friction material to the rotor. I took off the two front rotors and sure enough there is a easily detectable coating on the surfaces along with some grooves. Brake pads are still hardly worn. I used 60 and later 36 grit flapper sand paper wheels on an angle grinder and removed the coating, trying to keep the surfaces fairly true. The wheel removes the iron from the disc easier than the coating. I also removed the glaze on the pads with my chop saw, pressing them against it like it was a brake rotor. Driving to work this morning it appears that the problem is gone. I don't know how long it will last. I am not sure if I would do this again, as it was a fair amount of work. It might be worth $90 to replace the rotors. Or maybe I'll take them to have them turned next time.

I’ve got the occasional squeak on first brake application on relatively new pads and rotors- think this would work for that too?
