FRM Warranty Experiences

I have a R56S with a manufacture date of 03/2011 and was told by the dealership that I was only covered for 8 years instead of the recently further extended 10 years. I did find a copy of the service bulletin online, notifying of the extension in August of 2018.

The one thing I noticed on it is a typo where the R56S Hardtop models with the N18 engine are listed as

"R56 (Cooper S Clubman) (N18 Engine) Model Years 2011 to 2013 produced from 7/23/2010 to 11/19/2013"
and even the JCW is "R56 (Cooper S Clubman JCW including GP) (N18 Engine) Model Years 2013 produced from 7/19/2012 to 11/21/2013"

Which you may notice it says R56 Clubman... the full range of the Clubman is listed correctly under R55, but the Hardtop is mislabeled.

So I was wondering if any other R56S N18 Hardtops had issues with Warranty coverage, I understand that this only would have been relevant for the last 6 months or so.

I was also wondering if there was anyone else that was denied their claim for any reason for this issue.

Just as an amendment to this. I spoke with my dealership and was told that they were enforcing the 8 years that they saw when they looked up my car. So if you are having any FRM issues, I hope your car is newer than 8 years, because I couldn't tell you what the difference is between the 8 year extended warranty on it and the additional 2 years they added onto it.

I don't know how many people were even notified about this, as I am not sure I received a notice for the original 8 year. I know I never got anything for the extended warranty on the Turbo.

I've been a member of this forum since 2008 and I don't have a clue what FRM stands for :-)

b4 admitting to such a heinous crime, a search would work so I don't have to kick you with my Footwell Module.

You're lucky, it controls all the primary electronics. Door locks, windows, lights interior and exterior. Its the footwell module that is behind the plastic trim piece on the driver side by the dead pedal.
I didn't know what it was until a week ago when it failed on me.

That’s really a bunch of BS! I have the letter, it says the warranty was extended to ten years from the in service date, or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.
If I was you, I would contact MINIUSA and complain to a rep there. My guess is they will have you at the dealership getting it replaced right quick!
