Three honks on Startup.

I just got my mini, a 2008 s, and I love it so far. Has 119,000, miles. No engine lights or other warning lights on. So as the title says, I get into my car, put the key in the slot, push in the clutch and push the start button and the horn will honk 3 times very quickly. Everything seems to work fine otherwise, just a little annoying to my neighbors at 4 am when I leave for work. Any thoughts? TIA. I can take a video and put it on YouTube if that would help.

I think I may have found some info on this finally. I think my car has a dealer installed car alarm that makes it do this. I will post again when I finish figuring it out.

it should not do that at all...is it a factory alarm system? If so, something is wrong with it....might need to be taken to dealer to be diagnosed or re-programmed

It's a dealer installed alarm. I got it used but after a little bit of forum searching, I found this has happened to a few people with Toyotas and also with dodges. It's called a Karr alarm system and when the valet switch isn't plugged in all the way it will honk three quick times before ever start. Looking at removing the alarm as I don't have any remotes or anything for it anyway.

Yes, probably a good idea to yank it all out of there
