So I’ve had a 2013 MCS for about a year. Shortly after I bought it I had the wavy road and steering wheel lights come on. After extensive research I concluded it was the dreaded szl problem. Well, I’ve finally had the time and resources to pull everything apart only to be absolutely stumped. I tried accessing it from the bottom of the steering column but couldn’t find it. When I removed the steering wheel however I found a manufacture date on my column date to be from 07. Now my question is: Who else has this happened to? Can I force an 07 szl to work? Should I just find a 2013 szl and try to integrate?

5dfb is the only code. I have a Foxwell 520 I used to clear the code. Then I did a live data read and it said it’s -1• soooo I tried to recalibrate by removing steering knucle and trying to turn the wheel but it just says cannot communicate with the module. When I finally pulled the steering wheel, I saw the manufacture date on the center column (Szl column) and it says it was made October of 2007. I’m guessing that’s why I couldn’t pull the szl off the steering column from the back. I’ve heard that previous to the LCI, the szl was located behind the airbag. And it appears that is the steering wheel I have currently.
