Szl/sas question
So I’ve had a 2013 MCS for about a year. Shortly after I bought it I had the wavy road and steering wheel lights come on. After extensive research I concluded it was the dreaded szl problem. Well, I’ve finally had the time and resources to pull everything apart only to be absolutely stumped. I tried accessing it from the bottom of the steering column but couldn’t find it. When I removed the steering wheel however I found a manufacture date on my column date to be from 07. Now my question is: Who else has this happened to? Can I force an 07 szl to work? Should I just find a 2013 szl and try to integrate? |
We need to know what DTCs are set in memory. "pull everything apart"? What did you pull apart?
"I tried accessing it ..." what is it? The SZL module? |
If you have a failed SZL I would only recommend going with a new one as a used one may not work just because of coding, and when cars are wrecked the airbag going off usually also damages them.
Also it will need to be coded to the car and aligned. We can get it for you if you email over your VIN, but they aren't cheap. |

So after taking everything apart, I now know I have a 2007 steering wheel from an automatic trans vehicle. It has paddle shifters and my car is a manual. So how do I correct the szl issue?

I would go to realoem.com, enter the last 7 of your VIN, find the part number needed for your car, and search the internet for the best price on the module.
Then used these steps to install it: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r...odules/HTxR0mr Others are correct; the instructions says this component must be coded to the vehicle. You'll probably need an indy shop to help you with that step. |
