Popping sound when stopping

Hi all, I have an 05 MCS that is making a metallic popping sound when I apply the brakes to stop in my garage. It seems to only happen at very slow speeds. The brakes look fine and work great. Any ideas on how to cure this?

The brake pad linings may be worn out. You better take off the wheels and inspect all the pads and look for loose attachment bolts.

How many miles.? You could have a lose brake caliper. Pull the tire and try to shake the caliper. You could actually do it by turning the wheel to one side and doing it from the back. There are 2 screws that hold the caliper to the bracket and two screws that hold the bracket to the car. Check them both for tightness. And as mentioned before, check the brakes for wear and proper install.

About 130,000 miles. I inspected pads, rotors and did a visual inspection in November when I replaced the struts. I have no idea when the rotors and pads were done because I have only had it a year. I thought it was one of the retaining springs but they were tight. I did not check the caliper bolts and am a little ashamed I hadn't thought of that. Could the slides be sticking?

did you recheck your struts. If it just a single pop, then I could be the struts are not tight or the calipers are lose. If it is a continuous thing until the car stops, then lose calipers or pads. Did it pop before you did the struts?
