2005 Mini Cooper s SES and EML
Hello everyone! My name is Massimo and I am new to this forum. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper s with 143k miles that I inherited which I do work on to keep running. It’s 100% bone stock and as fun as this small beast is to drive, I have some issues that hopefully I can get more insight on. I read the previous stock issues, and hopefully I am not repeating the same questions. My car seems to hesitate during acceration as well as rough shifts, which I believe could be a sign of a vacuum leak with the info I found. With the EML and SES lights on, I have the following codes: p1498 unmetered air after compressor, p1229 throttle pedal pentameter adaptation fault , p0222 throttle position switch circuit 2 too low , p0123 throttle position sensor circuit 1 too high. I am thinking that the plastic tube from the throttle valve to the supercharger may be cracked, or the throttle body may need replacing?Sorry for the long text, I would really appreciate some different opinions on this issue, thanks!

Congrats on your new to you Mini Cooper S ownership.
The throttle issue can be the fly-by wire gas pedal having corroded terminals at the plug, behind the gas peddle. Leaks in vacuum as you stated ( particularly the hose to the pcv and the pcv itself.) You speak of rough shifts, is it an automatic? if so are you getting and X before the gear number on the dash? If so, you may need to reset the shift adaption, to correct a shift problem. (but it will not shift correctly if the throttle circuit is faulty) Fix any air leaks, clean the peddle plug and see if the trans shifts better.
Thanks for the info! It’s a manual transmission, and I already checked the Pcv valve and I will check the drive by wire behind the gas pedal. The wires going to the throttle body seem to be lightly nicked which may be an issue? Thanks!
