Got a 2005 model with an SES or EML light on?

Hey everyone. Ai apologize in advance if this has been posted already but at least I'll admit I'm to lazy too look. Besides, I'm not asking a question, I'm telling yall what I know.

Bout 3 weeks ago my SES light came on, the EML light came on and my car just about died. I shut her down, restarted and she ran just fine although the SES light stayed on. Well since then the SES light has intermitantly come on and off and I called MINI service about it yesterday to find out if they knew anything.

The service guy said a software recall issue has been ordered for my car. Now I am not sure if it covers all 2005's or only 2005 MCSa's. I have an automatic. He said they still did not have the software fix in yet but were told they were getting it in this week. I'm going to check and see if they have it in tomorrow, Friday, cause I'll be in the city where the only dealership is. If they have it and I get it fixed I'll gather more info for yall.

Hope this helps.

iF IT BOTHERS YOU

leave them the car until they are able to fix it. They should provide you with a rental until they are able to sold the problem. If they are giving you the run-around contact mini directly and you'll be the first inline to get the update. If all else fails contact mini roadside assistance and they'll tow the car to the nearest dealer which is probably the same dealer. One of those lights is very essential because it monitors all the emissions controlled devices. There must be something wrong with the car because should not come on just because. If this happens continuously, they have to get it right or buy the car back from you because it is a federal matter when it comes to emmission controlled devices.

Yes the SES light is on, i think the twincharge kit is the culprit!

Yep, I had this problem 4 days after I picked up my MCSCa. Look at some of my other posts to see my reported problems. I had the software upgrade down and a bypass valve on the Supercharger replaced. 3 weeks later and she's been running fine.

Sounds familiar

Check out the post that I started in Under the Bonnet under "First month of ownership--very frustrated".

I've been where you are and hopefully it's finished!

LAMINI, I am not leaving them the car. I need it. And I don't want a rental. I did not get the run around and from what I hear we have the #2 & #3 mini service reps in the nation at our dealer.

I'm not worried about it. I'll bring it in, let them play with it, and if she breaks down later, call roadside assistance. I've got almost 6k on her so my problems took much longer than most of yalls.

Sorry to clutter up beneath the bonnet.

Update - I took it in yesterday and had her fixed. There was a software recall on the 2005 MCS automatics. Apparantly there was some glitch between the software and the O2 sensor and thats what was triggering the SES light.

No problems since they updated the software.
