Need help with 5d8c dsc sensor can timeout code

Hi, I have the dsc light and tpms light stuck on my 2003 Mini Cooper S. Pulled the codes with my Autel scantool and have 5d8c (dsc sensor can timeout) as the code that won't go away. I can't really find anything about what this code actually means other than one post out there about a shorted wire on the e-brake. I already checked that. Any more ideas??

Could be faulty wheel speed sensor or a connection at the control unit.

I pulled one of the wheel sensors and it threw a separate code when it was unplugged. I've also checked the connection at the dsc sensor behind the e-brake and the wires aren't chaffed like some other posts are suggested. Checked the fuse too as sometimes it's the simple things but that was good too.
