Engine reassembly question

Hi All-

Just getting my 2008 R56 back together after a head gasket replacement. I lost some momentum (all momentum) and it sat since December of last year. Following a few good YouTube videos and have it mostly back together but one thing is kicking my butt. I can't figure out where the turbo cooler line mounts. This is the "Y" shape hose/hard pipe component that connects to 1.) the bottom outlet on the thermostat housing and routes to 2.) the coolant expansion tank and 3.) the upper coolant connection on the turbo at the front of the engine. The bracket built into the hose is sitting about an inch to the right (facing the front of the car) of the exhaust manifold heat shield and just in front of the oil filter housing.

This shows it as part #5 and a bracket which doesn't match any parts I have in the pile plus there's not really anything there to bolt it to. Am I missing something? I'll try to add a pic of the part in place to help out this quest. TIA for any assistance.

If I understand what you are asking correctly, the hose in question as you already know, comes from the thermostat and slits to run to the coolant expansion tank and the top connection for the coolant on the turbo. The bracket in question actually secures that hard coolant line to the compressor side of the turbo, there is a screw hole there (see photo). I do not think it’s super important, at least I hope not, lol. Because when I replaced my turbo it wouldn’t line up anymore so left it off.

It should mount just under the plate I’m pointing to that has the manufacture info on it.
Hopefully this is what you were looking for. If not let me know

Thanks so much for the reply. That's not exactly the location I'm referring to though. If you follow that hard pipe back towards the thermostat housing, there's a mounting bracket that is several inches below the hose port to the vacuum pump. That's what I'm referring to.

bracket beneath the vacuum pump nozzle

Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks again for the reply!

There is a separate 1.5" bracket that srews into the vac pump and the water line bracket.

That's definitely the bracket I referred to in my original post, but the missing info was that it goes into the vacuum pump and the diagrams didn't show what it actually connected to. I assume it just attached between the screw and the pump? I'm still missing the bracket itself--not sure what could have happened to it but with this new found knowledge I'll see if I can fashion something that'll hold it in place.

Thanks for the info!

Oh I see, wrong one, oops. Glad that it’s figured out now, I don’t even have that bracket on mine, it’s never been there as long as I’ve had it. So I’m sure you can live without it if need be
