05 and the yo-yo

Has anyone with an 05 MCS experienced the yo-yo or have they got it cured. I'm going to Charlotte on Sat to the new dealer and may place my order then but unsure of which to buy the MC or S. IF I get an S, i'll wait till the Jan. build starts so I can get the lsd.

I have yo-yo but it is VERY slight. I only notice it every couple of days, and even then, it's not bad at all.

i think it's fair to say that it is SEVERELY retarded that we STILL have driveability issues on the 3rd year model. Maybe, just a bit.

oh well... back to driving! latar!

I have an 05 MCSC, and it has the yo-yo. That's disappointing, because my 03 MCS didn't. Otherwise, it's perfect.

For what it's worth, I have an "05 MCS, put about 1,000 miles on it in 2 months, not ONE single problem.

Runs like a top, no squeaks, rattles, nada. Excellent in every respect.

Now I've jinxed myself, it will probably explode next time I drive it . . .

true, except a search for "yo yo" tells me no matches due to the short words. Is there a trick to get it to work?

I have an 05 MCS and I've never felt it yo-yo once since I've owned it. I also have been driving around in an 03 MCS lately and it yo-yo's like crazy. It's the weirdest thing as I've never felt any other car do it before. I awlways wondered what folks were talking about when they mentioned the yo-yo problem, but after driving the 03 I now know. If I purchased a MINI and it did that I'd be pretty upset about it (the 03 is not mine so I'm not too worried about the problem). MINI/BMW really does need to fix that problem. I'm not sure what software/firmware version the 03 I'm driving is using, so maybe it can be corrected (or at least made better) with an update.

Even if you want an S you can go ahead and order it. I ordered my '05 MCS with LSD last week!

Search for "yo-yo" not "yo yo" and it works

Had a similar problem trying to find threads about "CB Radio." "CB" was too short, so I got a zillion hits on "Radio."

Check the "Beneath the Bonnet" forum. There's a sticky at the top of the forum called "The Yo-Yo Chronicles." There's also a currently active thread called something like "Ryephix #2" that has info about a modification to the supercharger bypass valve that seems to help the problem.

The Yo-Yo Chronicles
To summarize: the Yo-Yo is an oscillation during steady-throttle-position part-throttle acceleration.

and, only after you've read that:
The Ryephix2 upgrade Thread

btw - this is suprizing [and disappointing] to hear the '05's have the yo-yo.
