3 Button Fob Battery Replacement?
3 Button Fob Battery Replacement?
Clubby’s nearing 6th birthday with me, bought new late in ‘12.
One fob no longer works to open locks by remote, but will run it.
Other’n works but only at close range now, like ~ 25 feet ir less.
Can these things be opened? Can batteries be replaced?
Another thread indicates they’re soldered in, and that solder sometimes cracks disabling fob.
I’m no stranger to soldering but frustrated over opening these for fear of permanent damage.
Also by manufacturer’s insistance on full-price for new ones when they designed in a pre-determined failure date with a fixed battery. Should be replaced Free of Charge IYAM when still owned by original buyer.

If you have comfort access, the back panel pops off and you can replace the battery (CR2032). If you don't have comfort access, I've heard they're sealed, though I haven't seen one in person.
Comfort access? No idea what that is. Fobs have chrome ring that pops off, other than that its “mystery unlock” secret’s eluded me.
As for poster w/key business and/or Utube vids, got a link you can share/post here please?
Thanks too for taking time to post replies BTW.

Comfort access system allows you to keep the key in your pocket while opening doors or starting car. The battery is user replaceable. Youtube take your choice search "mini cooper key fob battery", 29 videos popped up when I searched. When I link they don't seem to work, not sure why.
OK then, thanks. No I don’t have CA option; my fob must be in docking station to start/run car.
And as for links not working? If that search string worked for you it will for me too. TA!
