Clutch not grabbing, like it's stuck in neutral

OK, so I just got the axles on my 09 clubbie and the wheels spin freely in gear (though opposite ways, no limited slip). Something is not right, I had my wife run through the gears while I watched under the hood, and the shifting mech seemed to be working correctly, and goes in reverse and all 6 gears, and the wheels spin freely. I think I made a rookie mistake with the clutch change, because I can't think of any reason why the wheels should spin while the car is in gear. I havent bled the clutch system yet, I but I dont see why that would matter. Shouldn't the wheels be locked to the engine while in gear, because the clutch DISengages the engine and drive wheels?

I was just checking if there is a rookie mistake I made, why the car is stuck in neutral. I will take off the shift linkage and see if that matters...

Hey guys, I answered my own question because it might help somebody some day. When the car was jacked up with front wheels off the ground the wheels would spin freely in any gear, but once the car was on the ground and level, the wheels became locked to the engine, maybe because they were spinning the same way, or the axles were too long and not grabbing, I am not sure exactly why this is so, but I do know that I have a history of freaking out over something that doesn't seem right, at the time, and then everything is fine.

Another example, before I had the axles tightened with the spindle nut torqued down, the rotor and wheels were loose, like the wheel bearing was really bad, so I kind of freaked out, but then I said to myself, wait till the spindle nut is tight, then everything will be locked in place, and it was so.

So my question above has more to do with me not understanding how a diff works than anything else.

Has to do with the fact that when you turn a corner, the outside wheel has to spin faster than the inside wheel. This goes into a bit more detail -
