Back story: I just got my cylinder head back from machine shop #2. The first shop milled the head .006" and performed a valve job. At the 500 mile mark, one of the intake valve seats dropped. The shop that did the work didn't have a machine small enough to machine the head for the new valve seats, so he referred me to another shop. That shop had the machine, but they took the bearing bracket off (2 bolts were out of the bracket when I got the head back, and the other two bolts had tool marks on them.)
So, here's the question: This warning (see pic below) is in the NEWTIS.info manual. What damage is done when this bracket is removed? The manual doesn't say ... only that it will result in "damage" without defining what that damage is. My thought is that the eccentric shaft centerline is aligned with the intake camshaft, and now with that bracket removed, the alignment between the two shafts has been disturbed.
Just heard from my local Indy shop; they checked "Air" (some online technical service for dealers), and there is nothing describing what the "damage" is when removing the bearing bracket. It only says the same thing that is in the manual ... don't remove the bracket.
