Is the fusable link servicable? ..seems corroded

Charging the battery made strange electric issues disappear. Aftera few short trips, it came back...figured the 5 year okd battery had it. (14.7v at battry when charging) As i swapped out thebattery i cleaned rust haze/dust off everything inthe well and noticed the fusable linkconnections were butt ugly corroded.
Still had issues ( though the battery took 4 hours on a charger to get to 100% and i havent tried it yet today)
I was planning on trying to takeit apart tonight.

Has anyone had it apart to clean before ? Is it possible?

thanks

I think it would have to be replaced, on other cars you do, but on the Mini I don't know. Check the jumper bolt under the + sign next to the air filter. Some times they get lose and corroded. Also check your grounding straps

there's an explosive charge in it, I do not touch them.

BMW made a replacement kit, or they used to, mini wants to replace all the cables to the front

Oh what fun! I use to work on Fiats. The X/19 had the battery in the front(mid engine). The battery cables would some times corrode inside the insolation. The only way to know was to see what amps it was pulling. It was fun to change that long cable.

All of the under hood cables seem very good and clean. I found afuse assembly, but to replace it you will need to take off the nuts and wires and i figure if i change it out, i will just clean the connections, andnot mess with the fuse itself, reinstall and hope athat fixes it. I think mini mania had it..$130 that i wantto not spend if possible.

edit #2: wife didn't call saying the issue was still there...told her not to call if all is well, so low charged battery certainly make the mini have very strange electric issues. I am off next week so if i can wait for a cool morning i will have at the clean up, especially if the issues returns...should be good for a couple days.

edit 3: the old battery would not even charge now with a nono genius charger, so I am hoping the battery was in fact the issue.
