Key Drama! Helppppp!
Key Drama! Helppppp!
Hi! Sorry if this has been asked several times...I just need some help.
We just bought a 2010 Clubman S about a month ago, after a long battle with the VW dealer we bought it from, we were unable to get them to foot the bill for new keys. One had the buttons on it, the other did not, I assume it is a valet key.
The key with the buttons on it is not working. We spoke to a guy from MiniKeyHospital who gave us a TON of information about the disc keys, and how they occasionally need a replacement. We went ahead and ordered a new key from MiniPartsMass.com, associated with Mini of Peabody, Massachusetts.
After a long painful saga, of getting the order, getting a new ID that had a printed address on it that matched the registration to the car, they finally shipped us the key.
It starts the car, but the buttons are still not working on the thing.
We called Mini of Peabody today, and after a few transfers, a technical support guy said to drive the car "like ten miles or something.." No joke... Super helpful. This is our first mini so it seems like there are lots of things we just do not know about this car still. Is there a problem with the key, or does the battery in the key just need to charge? This specifically just occurred to me. Am i going down the right path? lol

Did the ten miles drive fox the issue or not? If not, the rearview mirror actually has the receiving antenna and might be defective.
Rearview mirrors are plug and play. Also search for that here in the forum.
