so i put an ipad box in my 06 mini copper s' glove box to stop stuff from rolling around. when i went top open it something inside the latch mechanism broke, and now i cannot get it open.. please does anyone know how i can get it open, just to get the stuff out or take off the door from the outside..it is not locked, i already checked

 

Oh god, this JUST happened to my '06 a few weeks ago. My girlfriend jammed some **** in it. I had to pry it partway open with a screwdriver from the top until I could get at the stuff jammed in the mechanism. I forced it back and was able to open the glove box, unfortunately the little plastic parts are shattered and it won't close now.

EDIT! I should note I popped off the dash trim above the glove box to better get my pry bar between the door and the body of the glove box.

 

how do i get the trim pieace off?

 

It just pulls straight out.

 

i cant seem to just pull it off. can you post a pic of where you grabbed it?

 

I haven't got any photos handy, but there's no real trick to it or anything to illustrate. You just need to get either your fingers or a flathead screwdriver underneath the bottom edge of the dash panel and pull/pry it outward. It's just affixed with some tabs. You can also try opening the passenger door and going in from the right hand side of the panel, that might be a bit easier to get at.
