Cylinder head cup plug
Cylinder head cup plug
Hi all! I am working on repairing my mini for a milkshake in the oil right now. The 16mm or 5/8" cup plug in the center of the head popped out on me. The same failure that ckradio published in a youtube video in 2017.
I am having a hard time deciding how I want to go about this repair, as I am struggling to find parts that I think will work. I have heard rumors that a new, OEM cup plug, may not have the interference to stay in place. And I do not at all have confidence that any of the similarly sized plugs will stay. They all have less than 0.09mm interference.
So, my question is... Has anyone else dealt with this failure? And, if so, did replacing the plug with a factory part work for you? If not, what did you do to resolve the issue?
Thanks!
