P0172 sputtering

So I have a sputtering issue around 1.5k. It comes and goes.

2012 n18 MCS R56
just recently went two steps colder on plugs.
replaced my MAF sensor because it started idling weird. Everything seemed to be back to normal after replacing the MAF but then I got a p0172 code. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. The only problem I see is maybe the injectors?

Why did you go colder on the plugs?

P0172 is for "Bank 1 System Too Rich". What is the condition of your air filter? How many miles on your engine? What is the condition of the O2 sensor? Did you install the MAF sensor backwards? It is possible you received a bad MAF sensor...

Air filter is clean. It is oiled. Im switching to a dry filter here. The next step is to trade in the new MAF I got and see if that does anything.
i went a step colder for safety reasons. I have full bolt ons with the JB+
O2 sensor is probably shot because I have a catless downpipe.
i have about 85k on the motor
im pretty sure it’s installed correctly lol. It’s kind of a no brainer install

Just trying to get the whole story

A JB+ should only need 1-step colder plugs, maybe, not 2-step colder.
If your air filter was recently re-oiled, could be a source of fouling on the MAF.
P0172 rich condition usually means the MAF is reporting the wrong air flow.

That’s fine lol. I’m always vague 🤦🏽*♂️
It was oiled recently. I’m going to try these little fixes and see if anything happens. I’m was trying to see if there was anything I’m missing. Thank you!

The system is TOO rich as the colder plugs are not burning gasoline fast enough.
Put the old plugs back in to see if you can clear codes.
If this works go ONLY one step colder and see how it goes.

After reading around how plugs work, I don’t agree too well with what your saying. I was running the car for a few months with the colder plugs as well without any issues. No stutters or hesistation. I got it colder plugs to prevent pre det.

Anyways issues are solved, my two of my spark plugs were fouled out.

i forgot to mentioned I used a can of CRC intake valve cleaner 🤦🏽*♂️
