Steering Binding/Sticking Midway Through Range
Steering Binding/Sticking Midway Through Range
I noticed for the first time today that my steering seems to require noticeably increased effort both left and right between 35-40 degrees off center on the steering wheel as I move it through the motion at low speeds (like turning into a parking spot). It I keep turning more sharply, the resistance goes back to normal at anything above 40 degrees off center. It almost feels like a bind/stick at a certain point.
Steering still returns to center, no noticeable noises or clunks. Interestingly, I noticed it for the first time one day after a shop installed a new clutch, flywheel, and driver's side CV joint boot.
I don't know the specifics of what components get touched when swapping the clutch and CV, but I suspect at least some of the suspension/steering system has to be touched. Is it possible that the shop installed something incorrectly resulting in this phenomenon?
