Hello,

Is anyone familiar with a loud whine from the AC? No abnormal sound with AC off or AC on at idle. However, with AC on and at 2500 rpm, a loud whine occurs. If I turn the AC off, the whine goes away. I am thinking it is the AC clutch or bearing. If anyone has seen (heard) this sound, I’d love to get your input.

 

I am experiencing the same issue. All normal but when the A/C is on, I hear this whine. Pitch goes away when I turn off the A/C. . I too believe it is the clutch or bearing on the A/C compressor. I too would appreciate someone else chiming in on this for a possible solution or confirmation about the clutch or bearing. I will do the work myself if that.

 

I purchased a chinese-made clutch could assembly from amazoA. It has the bearing, coil, clutch, and connector. I did verify there is some play in the clutch or bearing. I am replacing my supercharger, fixing my timing chain rails, and addressing this problem at the same time. I'll post up if 5his resolves the issue.

 

Please do! I actually had the same problem develop this week. Logic says clutch assembly. Fortunately I have an extra laying around!

 

I've had this on mine for several years now, and heard of it with others too, as far as I know it's just annoying and doesn't affect the function of the compressor, nor does it indicate impending doom for the compressor as far as I know.
