Weird gas cap problem

I have a really weird problem dealing with my gas cap coming off when driving. Happened twice on my way home from the dragon. I would find the cap outside the closed gas cap door...as if I just closed the door w/o putting the cap on. I know I put the cap on tight when gassing up. I'm at a loss and no amount of searching turns up anything like this problem

Are you getting a code? Would think a loose cap would set one off.

If the fuel door is locking and the cap is outside a locked fuel door, either Scottie transported the cap from inside to outside the door, or, you never screwed the gas cap back in after you put the gas in.

For "older" people that drive their MINIs in a spirited manner on the Tail of the Dragon the blood is forced from the center of the brain to the ears and they become disoriented. Something similar to vertigo but it is called "dragongo" . . . . .

I believe there is a chapter of BOFDM in your area. I belong to our NC Chapter and can get you a contact if you like.
