06 R53 AC issue

I have searched the internet looking for the exact problem but no go. When I turn on my AC I hear a metal on metal sound like when your brake pads are getting low. the only thing I have found was the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. Is this true? I also don't have really cold air coming out of it either.
Any thoughts??

It may be a AC compressor problem. On the air temp, have you taken any pressure measurements?

Item # 20 in the below thread has some good AC information.

Sounds like AC bearing or other internal issue.
Have someone turn on the AC while you're in the engine bay, preferably with a long metal rod against the compressor (watch for the belt!) to see if you can determine if it's coming from the compressor body. Likely so, and you probably need a new compressor.
