Water pump tube replcae

Hi,

2009, automatic non-turbo.

I changed the thermostat housing gasket but I did not change the water pump tube, mostly because it looks like you have to remove auto transmission shift linkage to get it out.

I must have broken the water tube because I have a fast leak on the passenger side of the engine.

I debating on whether to take in for repair, I saw videos of tube replace and they even put the car on a lift to check debris in the water pump.

Have any DIY'ers replaced the water pump tube?

I watched one video where they did but of course cannot see exactly what they are doing

1. I assume the tabs on the pipe have to install onto pins? Can you see this with a flashlight or will it just happen?
On mine there are not really any holes in the intake to see through.
2. Lube the O-rings.

The thermo housing and pipe cost me $400 at the local dealer. I suppose that's what I get for not planning ahead.

Thanks

I got it done, not as bad as I thought. You can see the water pump if take off the passenger wheel. You can't easily see the input to the water pump but you can run your finger around the inside, some plastic bits fell out on mine. It also gives you confidence that the pipe went to the right place.

I could not shift afterwards, found out it was due to a special metal part that only bites the shift shaft if positioned correctly.
