Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
I bought a 2002 mini with 73000 miles on it. The cruise control does not work. When I press the button to engage cc a light on the instrument panel flashes momentarily but it does not work.
Is there something obvious I should look for i.e. blown fuse, or is this a more compllcated problem,.
Wondering whether the circuits of the cruise buttons on the steering column go through the BCM. The BCM is in the passenger side foot well and if the sunroof drain tubes get plugged the BCM can get wet.
Just a dart to the board. I would check the (cancel) switch on the clutch pedal first. Cruise control involves the throttle, speed sensor so most of the work is done by the DME. The brake switch also cancel the cruise, but I suspect it shares with brake lights.
Here is the wiring diagram of CC from 2006 Mini. Earlier models should be very similar, except may be fuse numbers. I would not count on fixing the issue with simple fuse replacement. All the work is done by the DME, may be with the exception of the UI of the multifunction steering wheel's buttons control.
I've swapped out the Clutch Switch, same result. Though occasionally in my scans it tells me the clutch sensor is not working. I have a feeling in my case it may be a wire or connection somewhere up the line.
Do you know if the transmission has been swapped out? I remember reading that if you did the retro fit for cruise control that it needs the be coded. Here is a link talking about the refit http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f845...tml#post118862
It might be worth going to the link and reading to see if any of it applies.
