2013 unknown manual drivetrain issue

First timer here looking for answers. 2013 R55 S 6-spd "free revs" with N18. Thinking it was clutch related I had clutch, pressure plate, flywheel bolts and metal sleeve all replaced. Mechanic had 38 yrs of experience. MINI will not engage/accelerate after 30+ minutes but after it cools down (heat related some how? - no smells) I can engage clutch/drivetrain and it'll move. Dual mass clutch seems to be holding together per mechanic. Don't know what to ask outlook for at this point. Fluids looked really clean. Nearest MINI dealer is NIW 2+ hours away. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

give it back to the mechanic who did the work and let them fix it. 38yr of experience and doesnt know? (why use this card to lure customers and then say, "oh, mini is different")

any how, when you say after it warms up it wont engage, can you elaborate?
do you mean to say it goes into gear but wont move? or it wont go into gear like something is blocking it?

Could be output shaft but if that was the case heat soak wouldnt matter. Manual transmissions are pretty basic. Try getting the front end off the ground and see if it still free revs.

I meant to say it won't move, never an issue with engagement. I've heard only the N18 motor takes a special tool to "pre-load" the self-adjusting pressure plate. I also noticed on the old pressure plate there is what appeared to be a star shaped adjustment wheel similar to what was on the old drum brakes. This condition happened before replacement, hence the replacement but continues after also. The car was bought used, if the previous owner had it replaced and didn't use this special $335 tool what would the byproduct be? What does this tool and adjustment wheel actually do? To me, this seems to be the issue but not even a MINI dealer can/will tell me and MINIUSA is of no help, not us MINI of Birmingham, AL.
