2006 R53 JCW Engine Rattle (video included)

2006 R53 JCW with 84,800K miles

I've started noticing this rattle at idle. And then a slightly different sound around 1100-1200 RPM when i'm engaging the clutch. The clutch engagement one is more like a rumble, so I'm not sure if they are from the same issue or actually different ones.

Engine Rattle at Idle

Noise at 1200 (quality isn't as good. I've got the mini up on jack stands right now changing the brakes. It's much louder if the engine has torque load on it.

Other information
March 2015 - New Clutch
Sept 2016 - Replaced the crank seal and Crank pulley with an ATI from WayMotorWorks

Ideas??

My ears have heard much better days so cannot be of much help. Have you checked the belt tensioner?

If you don't have a stethoscope now would be a good time to acquire one as it will make short work out of locating the source of that noise. Sounds metallic in nature on this end.

Yeah, I picked up one at harbor freight today, but of course it started to fall apart as soon as I started poking around. With the stethoscope I couldn't really pinpoint it.

But I did notice if I put pressure on the front of the belt tensioner with a wooden dowel leveraged against the engine, it stopped... Hmm....

Does the tensioner bounce a lot? The struts often fail on them and the pressure from the dowel could be compensating for it.

easy way to narrow down sounds on these cars, first unhook the belt and see if the sound is still there, that eliminates all accessories and the supercharger from the equation.

do not run it long the water pump hangs off the back of the SC, if the sound is gone then you can focus on what you unhooked.

if there is sound that changes when clutch is pressed it's probably the throwout bearing if it's old
