Replacing the axles on my 2006 R52 JCW. Couple of the CV boots are torn and the other two are 12 years old. Figured I would just upgrade to a set of the 400+ HP sets. I believe there are three options: Insane Shafts, Revolution Mini Works, and Drive Shaft Shop 2.9's. RMW is the cheapest at $750 a set.
Just curious if one was any better than the other.
I agree with Mega, unless you're planning a major build and also running super sticky tires or slicks, you'll lose traction far before you'll break an axle or joint.
We had Driveshaft shop axles in the past and they were different each time we got a set. Went to what we have now and they are super durable as long as your car isn't slammed. They will easily handle 500whp at proper ride heights
I did some checking and found pelican had GKN kits for about $12 each.
Obtaining the boots for a rebuild is the easy part, getting the needle and roller bearings for a rebuild seems to be an impossible task. Anyone know where we can get needle and roller bearings for a rebuild?
I've replaced the booths on both of my CV shaft....pretty easy job, just take your time and keep things clean. I think you can get a set of boots for one for under $40.
Why would anyone spend $400 on a set of axles that will hold 450hp vs. $40 worth of boots to replace the worn out stock boots? Nobody on here has a mini that will ever see 450hp........
