2012 Cooper S "Customization" not Working.

I've searched around to see if anyone has this problem: The 'set/info' options aren't working in my 2012 Cooper S.

Regardless if the key fob is inserted, or not, or if the engine is running, or not, the only options when I enter the options screen on the tachometer after pressing the set/info button that come up are: WIPERS and Check-Info, that's it. There's not 'service', 'reset tire pressure', or either of the "key" options.

I've called two different mini dealers and neither one has ever encountered this problem before and I couldn't find any other problems like this after doing a google search. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

J.

I get this condition quite often --- usually 'cause I don't use the "press-and-hold" and a quick "press" in the correct sequence. If you're very familiar with the correct sequencing, and this is a new problem, it's possibly a legitimate failure. If you're new to Mini's, I suggest you take it to a Mini dealer and have them show you how to access the features you want to change --- there's lots to learn about these Mini's.

I know if you put the key in but don't press the start button, there's only a limited set of things you can check in the set/info message. But if the engine is running or ignition is on, you should definitely be able to see all the options. Do you have Nav? The key unlock settings, TPMS, check-info, and service reminders I know are accessible via the nav screen but I haven't checked whether that means the settings are gone in the tach. I'll check after work today.

Based on this manual for 2012 mini with mini connected (go to page 61):

I'm betting you have the nav system. So most of the settings will be through the infotainment system instead.

Yes! Thank you! This is what was 'wrong'. I only test drove it and barely drove it since it's stored until the snow is gone and I haven't used the Nav system, yet.
