R56 radio dead but CD player ejects CDs

I have a 2009 Mini Clubman. Recently the radio died including the display on the speedo above. I was hoping that the fuse in the back was blown however I can put a CD in and eject it back out and hear the electric motor running. I'm assuming based on that information it's a dead radio and not a blown fuse.

Is that a safe assumption? I really don't want to dig into the thing to find out if it's a blown fuse or I need to buy a new radio and I also don't want to buy a new radio and discover it was the fuse on replacing it.

Opinions? Options? Thoughts?
