Stalling when Braking

Hello All!

I'm having trouble with our mini. Non S, automatic, late 2007 model.
The car drives great, but occasionally stalls out and dies when you hit the brakes.

The car restarts just fine when you turn it off then back on and everything is back to normal.
Could it be a vacuum leak?

The car also consumes oil regularly (140kmiles)
I think maybe a Vanos solenoid is fouled and needs to be replaced/cleaned.
The oil light comes on occasionally when you turn, so I think it may be thinking it doesn't have enough oil and adjusts the fuel/air ratio to the point where it dies out.

Has anyone experienced similar issues?

At one point I did get the codes for cylinder 1 and 3 misfire. We cleared them and they have not come back yet the car still does the same stalling.

The only other code I can see is
6. Immobilizer System:
<--------------------------->
CAS:
- Fault: Interlock PLOCK error
- Code: 00A0B6

I'm not sure if it's related.

Thanks a lot, hopefully we can get this sorted and this fix made easily found to others

I don't know anything about your driving habits, but I know somebody that recently had a newer Subaru that stalled when brakes applied...she drives with one foot on the gas and one on the brake and the car (so the dealer said) would shut off when both pedals hit...I bet that's not the issue though. I'm guessing plugs and coils, but I'm not an expert (at anything). Good luck!

The oil problem is really alarming. There is nothing in the ECU that changes fuel for oil level, but friction (and wear) will skyrocket if the oil pump starves which it sounds like you are doing. Find the cause of the oil consumption first and foremost and then go from there. Most causes of oil consumption are going to get worse, not better.

Okay so definitely not driving with both feet hehe.

Took it to a mechanic. He scanned it, found a transmission code, and cleared everything. The check engine light came back on the next day only showing the transmission code.

The mechanic said the oil level was low so changed the oil. The code is in today but haven't had the car back long enough to see if it's doing the same thing.

3. Transmission Control:
Transmission / Getriebe GSF 21:

- Fault: S2 SOLENOID
- Code: 004E89

I don't have access to a Bentley manual. Would it be possible for someone to look this up? I can't find anything on this code.

It could be that your torque converter is staying locked. If the converter is locking, it will stall the engine. Does it do it if you shift the vehicle into neutral and come to a hard stop?

will try that this weekend ! Good way to trouble shoot.
What would cause it to lock?

Could be a solenoid inside the trans that is sticking and keeping pressure on the converter. This was a really big issue with Dodges in the mid 2000's. I would look into checking the fluid level in the trans as well.
