Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
I had my starter replaced at the turn of the year and my battery a week later when the car would not start.... the other day at work I went to start the car and nothing.... towed car to Mini - they say the new starter is bad, in particular, the solenoid. I had the starter done at another shop... so towing it back to have them fix again (they said they would take care of it 100% including towing). Has anyone encountered anything that would eat two starters in less then two months? I have never encountered anything like this in my 45 years of many... many cars.... What are the chances of getting a bad starter ( I think they used a reman-Bosch).
Starter on these dont go bad to often, I would make sure the connections are tight and there is nothing wrong with the main harness. Likes its on and off on connection and they are just replacing the stater overlooking the connections.
ECS was right.... what I also suspected.... I quizzed mini and their mechanic those very same lines of thought. My regular mechanic finally solved it - was a corroded/bad ground to frame which explained a lot.... seemingly tight is not good enough! It works perfect now!
