footwell module howto

Can someone direct/instruct educate me on what it takes to interface with the footwell module.

My 09 mini suffered from broken mounts on the internal portion of the headlights. I took the headlights apart to repair this and noticed that the insulation is breaking down exposing copper.

I fixed all the above, but now only one head light is working. I checked fuses and they are fine. From what I read elsewhere I think the footwell module may have shut this headlight down.

So how do I interrogate and rectify this?

Verify the head light actually working. plug the "non-working" headlight instead of the working one.

also, try the signals and high beams to see if that changes anything. otherwise, the circuit for that light is shot.

open up the FRM and check for visible burns and/or smell components.

Buld is good.

Both High and Low beam do not work.

Signal light does work.

No visible issues on FRM.

Circuit for the light is shot? WTF does that mean? <g> Where do I buy a new circuit?

Wiring diagram is pretty simple. The FRM is the only thing there besides the switch, ground and battery.

the FRM has many built in circuits. Similar to the headlights, the windows are also controlled by this FRM.

were the wires in the headlight housing shorted? do you know if you're getting voltage at the female plug going to the HL?

disconnected the headlight, probed with a multi meter. No juice to the plug.

Back to the original question, how does one interface with the FRM?

For diagnosis? you need INPA or ISTA/D (with K+Dcan OBD/USB cable)
