So I replaced a noisy vacuum pump with new. Along the way I noticed the replacement does not have the lower, brass nipple for the second vacuum line. Does anyone know what this smaller line does and whether I can drive around with it until I order the right one?

 

Sorry. It’s a 2008 Mini Cooper turbo hardtop.

 

That brass fitting provides vacuum to your vacuum reservoir for controlling the turbo wastegate via the boost controller. You won’t build any boost and probably throw some boost related codes.

 

Sounds like you have the wrong vacuum pump.

 

You should have this pump. Note the part #.
