If you're up to it, perhaps you can figure it out by digging through here: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r56-cooper-s-hat/. I never looked it up for my R56 but did so for my F56; not an easy task so persevere.
My guess is a loose connector/pin somewhere between the steering wheel and the BDC computer. Or the BDC is went bad.
First thing I would do is to open the column and check for the connector to the left shifter. If it has come loose it's easy just press it back, I did this on my 370z and now it works like a charm. If the BDC was no good I do not think your up shift would work.
