When i try to use my paddle shifters it up-shifts fine but won't down shift at all. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?

No concrete ideas. Does it downshift with the shift lever ? Are you in Manual Sport mode ? Left and right paddle won't down but will up shift ?

Yes it will downshift with the stick

In sport mode yes, it will upshift with the paddle shifters but no down

 

If you're up to it, perhaps you can figure it out by digging through here: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r56-cooper-s-hat/. I never looked it up for my R56 but did so for my F56; not an easy task so persevere.

My guess is a loose connector/pin somewhere between the steering wheel and the BDC computer. Or the BDC is went bad.

First thing I would do is to open the column and check for the connector to the left shifter. If it has come loose it's easy just press it back, I did this on my 370z and now it works like a charm. If the BDC was no good I do not think your up shift would work.
