High idle on start up when cold

High idle on start up when cold

Since the weather has got colder my wife's 2011 Mini Cooper clubman S idles about 2200 on initial startup in cold weather and about 20 second it idles down any ideas

As long as it ideas back down, I wouldn’t worry much about it. A high cold idle is normal to get the catalyst up to temperature quicker.

we have owned this car since new and this is a first to be idling this high in cold weather, just wondering if anybody has experienced this.
