Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
My "new to me" R52 has some play in the drivers seat - a bit of back/forth rocking. 2005 with 87,000km.
I checked all of the bolts and everything is tight. Is it possible that there is play within the rails themselves? Is there anything in there that could break down / wear down over time?
I wasn't sure if there are any plastic retainer clips etc that need to be replaced?
Open to all feedback & suggestions.
Also, other than R52 seats, can I install R56 seats? If so, what modifications are required to the plug or rails?
Lots of info here on the seats for the Gen 1 MINIs. I think most of the time , like mine, developed play overtime in the pivot section and on the rail itself. Replacement made the rails tight again. Some people used to break the pivot point on the seat spring a lot back in the day. 52109152079
