supercharger noise

Hello,

I have a 2006 MCS, recently I got a supercharger air leak so I brought it to my local shop. They did the smoke test and found the leak, and since they are pretty much taking out the SC, I had them service any part that needs to be serviced.

They changed;
SC intake air duct
Water pump
Serpentine belt
Belt tensioner (no tension)
3-pc radiator hose
Air duct gasket
Throttle body gasket
SC oil

Anyhoo, I was driving away and got this weird noise. 5th gear to 6th, and every time I am pressing gas on 6th running around 75-80.

On neurtal, it comes at around 3k.
Shifting from 1st to 2nd at 4k, this comes on too when I hit gas from there.
No SC whine that it used to have.

Clear, no codes.

TIA.

Bring it back, quickly. Something isn't right. I'm not going to guess, only suggest it goes back ASAP.

I do not like attempting to diagnose a problem based on a video/sound clip taken from a distance. Based on what little to go by, I would suggest you look carefully at the possibility of a damaged (beyond serviceable) main crank pulley that is also a damper. The awful noise can be the steel pulley wobbling at speed and hitting the aluminum timing chain cover. Do a google image search and you will find some photos.

Dropped it off at the shop today. Initial diagnosis is air being pushed out somewhere. Maybe a loose gasket. Not the main crank pulley. Sound is coming from the left side (driver side).
I hope it would be just a gasket or seal :crossfingers

The gasket of what this big noise can come from is the intercooler rubber couplers. They are quite easy to check.

My guess is its a cracked IC boot or its loose.

Ok, so I picked up the car today.
Apparently the BOV wasn't opening fully making that noise. They replaced it and now, just the hummm of the SC... :awesome
Thank you all for your input. I could have checked that part but since it was just recently serviced, i thought the BOV was checked. Oh well..

You sure had a BOV - Blown Open Valve instead of a BPV, and that explains all.
