The red brake light means your parking brake is engaged. It will light up even if you slightly have it lifted so make sure that one is down. As for the traction control when that light is lit up constantly it usually means that the traction control is off. there should be a little dsc button by your shifter and if you press it and hold down it turns off the traction control. If you press it again it should turn back on and the light will go off.

Just to clarify. Are the lights staying on at all times? How often do they come on and under what circumstances?

This is might be a good thread for you

It seems like a service notification. Did you try the reset procedure outlined in the thread I provided?

Are your brakes worn down excessively?

I am not sure about that. I have replaced any brake parts yet since I got my car (almost 2y ago) but the lights annoy me several times but since yesterday lights started on all the time.

If your brake pads are extremely low, you may be tripping the low level sensor in the master cylinder. When I put SS lines on a previous MINI, I had a small leak that I didn't detect. After a couple of months, the brake light came on. I don't remember if the traction control light came on as well.

I would recommend to pull the error codes from the OBD2 to be sure about what issue we are working with

Yes, I would hook up a schwaben tool and pull all the codes and go from there.

I know this is an old thread, Pramuk, but did you ever figure out the lights? I have the same problem and have tried a few things but no luck.

The new brake pad sensor can be a pain, if you dont have the new ones lined up and clinked in all the way in the socket it will still show the light.

I used Mini scan tools and it showed LOW BRAKE FLUID. I topped it up then lights gone. Good luck
