Drivetrain Brake light not turning off?
Brake light not turning off?
Hey everyone. I have a 2007 MCS, and I've been having this problem where my brake light won't turn off. I made sure I released the E-brake all the way, and my foot was off the foot brake. Car still drove, and it still said BRAKE lit up on the tachometer. Here's a video to help with my explanation.

Please help!
Thanks! Dan
EDIT* - I fixed mine. Reasoning, was it was telling me that it needed to be in for service, which I didn't need. Found a video to help me. Anyone curious, hold the bottom-right button on the tachometer, (the small black one used to reset the miles driven on the tank of gas) until the car picture shows up. Then, press the button on the end of the turn signal stalk once, then when it says reset, hold it until it checks. There will be a small clock, hold it throughout this period. Hope I helped!

When the BRAKE light stay on after the e-brake is released, it's a couple of things:
* the e-brake switch could be faulty
* the fluid in the master cylinder is too low, as there's a level sensor on the reservior on the master cylinder
* the service maintenance cycle is claiming 'required' inspection of parts either based on time of running or mileage

Has it been more than 2 years since your hydraulic system has been flushed? I believe the light goes on every 2 years and after the fluid has been flushed out the light can be reset. I believe you can take in your key to the SA at the dealership and they can tell you why the light is on after "reading" your key. May be worth stopping by the dealer to find out if brake fluid flush is why the light is on. Easy to flush the system with a Motive bleeder see: http://store.motiveproducts.com/euro...-0100-p34.aspx
